Calvin Smith is an experienced senior manager and business development leader on issues ranging from homeland security to health and human services. Calvin has worked closely with federal, state, and local elected and appointed officials, and private and nonprofit decision-makers around the National Capital Region and respective State houses. Calvin currently serves as Director of Government and Community Relations for BridgePoint Healthcare and Chair of the Ward 8 Health Council. Calvin has managed the substance of programs and ensured they are in compliance with federal, state, and local statutes. His leadership style is to work effectively and collaborate with all stakeholders, including Board members, senior staff, and the community to accomplish the mission.

My energy and involvement on all levels have resulted in a proven record of success.  Received a BA in Economics from Howard University, and a Certificate of Public Administration from George Washington University.  Member of Leadership Greater Washington and serves on numerous Board of Directors for nonprofits and other advocacy organizations and has planned and presented at conferences on homeland security and health issues. Selected as Volunteer of the Year 2019 for National Capital Area YMCA. Received the Medical Society of DC 2021 John Benjamin Nichols Award for community engagement on behalf of the Ward 8 Health Council.
